Once there lived a mother who loved her son more than anything else in the world. One day, after a grave illness, the boy died. His body was placed in a coffin covered with flowers and then buried.
The mother wailed all day and night for her dead son. At night she had a strange dream. Her child appeared before her and said, “Oh, Mother, the shroud of flowers is still wet because of your tears. Please do not weep and let it dry, for I need to sleep.”
Startled by that strange dream, the mother made up her mind not to cry for her son anymore.
That night the child appeared in her dream with a lamp and gently said, “Mother, see how I’m resting in peace for your tears have dried.”
