And then of course he would catch a cold. Mrs. Tinkle was worried about him. She decided to ask Witch Simple for help. She told her how Mr. Tinkle would never look up at the sky to see when it was going to rain. He would always walk with his eyes on the ground. Witch Simple suggested they put something on the ground to warn him of the rain. White flowers grew in the fields where Mr. Tinkle loved to walk. Witch Simple painted them bright red. Then she put a rain-spell on them so they would close up their petals whenever rain was near. The flowers were called Scarlet Pimpernel. Now when Mr. Tinkle saw these flowers close their petals he knew he had to put up his umbrella.
