Once, there lived a maiden who was very pretty but lazy. Whenever she had to work, she was in a bad mood. She was very proud of her beauty. She had a hardworking maidservant who used to gather all the bits of flax the maiden threw away while spinning. With this, the maid spun a beautiful gown for herself. The lazy girl was about to get married to a young man. On the eve of her wedding, she saw her maidservant dancing in her new gown. The bride looked at her and said, “Look at her, dancing in the gown made from what I had thrown away.” She told the groom about it.
The groom was impressed to hear how hardworking the poor girl was. He left the lazy girl and chose to marry the poor maid.
