A poor girl lived alone with her mother. She went to the forest in search of food. There she met an old woman who gave her a little magic pot, which could cook porridge when ordered to.
The girl was very happy and ran all the way home with the pot. Her mother was delighted. They ate as much porridge as they wanted. Now they never had to worry about food. One day, when the girl had gone out, the mother ordered the pot to cook porridge but forgot what to say to stop it from cooking. So the pot went on cooking till the whole house and even the streets were full of porridge. No one knew how to stop it.
The mother sat and cried at the mess but couldn’t do anything about it. When the girl returned, she ordered the pot to stop cooking. All those who came to help had to eat their way back to their houses!
